IFP: 19,000 HIV/AIDS WORKERS TRAINED FOR THE FRONTLINES
Today the Children with HIV Association (CHIVA) celebrates ten years of
mentoring and training healthcare workers to treat HIV/Aids in children and
adolescents.
This remarkable organisation has trained 19 000 healthcare workers since its
founding by Dr Karyn Moshal, a Durban-born paediatrician. In 2004, in memory of
Prince Nelisuzulu Benedict Buthelezi, the son of IFP President, Prince
Mangosuthu Buthelezi, the Moshal family created a fund for initiatives like
CHIVA.
As CHIVA celebrates its 10th anniversary, Prince Buthelezi will be among the
guests honouring the work of Dr Moshal. As one of the first champions in the
fight against HIV/Aids, Prince Buthelezi will thank CHIVA for changing the lives
of countless children.
