EASTERN CAPE – The Gqeberha based Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation arrested James Scolto-Douglas (50) on Friday, 4 March 2022 for numerous counts of fraud and he appeared at the Gqeberha Specialised Commercial Crimes Court where he was released on R5000 bail.
It is alleged that the accused was a manager at BUCO in Grahamstown where he stole more than R5 million. Between February and September 2018, he allegedly made fraudulent entries in debtors’ account purporting to be for stock sold and transferred cash into his personal bank accounts.
An investigation was launched after the fraudulent transactions were discovered. Scolto-Douglas was arrested and charged with fraud, theft as well as contravention of the Companies Act.
The case was postponed to 10 May 2022.
