Pretoria – The Hawks’ cybercrime unit in conjunction with Crime Intelligence has on Tuesday arrested a Bulgarian couple who were found withdrawing money from an ATM using cloned bank cards in Sandton.
The couple was put under surveillance for a week and during a search at their residence the Hawks found high tech ATM skimming devices, 800 cloned cards, 1 500 cloned bank cards which were waiting to be cloned, R20 000 cash as well as R66 000 in foreign currency.
The suspects will appear before the Johannesburg Specialized Commercial Court. They have been charged with unauthorized access to data, possession of a device that is designed to overcome security as well as fraud.
