EASTERN CAPE – The Gqeberha Specialised Commercial Crime Court convicted Portia Nolubabalo Lukwe (36) on 27 October 2021 for numerous counts of fraud and money laundering.
Between 1 June 2012 and 30 September 2012, Lukwe in her capacity as a branch manager at Garden Court Hotel in Gqeberha unlawfully transferred funds to the beneficiary accounts to the amount of R90 000 for personal enrichment.
The complaint was lodged with Gqeberha based Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team for investigation. Lukwe was arrested in June 2014 where she was released on warning. After a series of court appearances, she was convicted. 2021. The matter was remanded to 14 December 2021 for sentencing. Her co-accused are already sentenced.
