Pretoria – A man who allegedly shot and killed a metro police officer in Kliptown, Soweto a fortnight ago will appear before the Protea Regional Court on Friday following his arrest by the Hawks Task Team that specialises with police killing on Wednesday.

Metro Police Officer Nicholas Diameen Robson had just left his house on his way to work when he was approached by a group of men who shot him thirteen times before making way with his service pistol. As they fled the scene the suspects robbed, shot and killed a woman as well shooting another man who was lucky to escape the shooting with bullet wounds.

The suspect, a 37-year-old Lesotho national who is the country illegally, was arrested in Kanana township, Klerksdorp. Investigations led the Task Team to Mandela Squatter Camp in Kliptown where a firearm with one police magazine and one live round of ammunition were recovered.

The suspect will face two charges of murder and one of attempted murder. The search for other four suspects is still underway.
