IMPOPO- the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation’s continuous operation in the alleged fraud and theft involving SAPS fuel cards resulted in the arrest of four more suspects aged between 30 and 51 in Groblersdal area on Tuesday, 09 February 2021.
The suspects who include two (2) petrol attendants and two (2) cashiers from the local filling station allegedly colluded with Groblersdal police officials to unlawfully refuel their private vehicles and purchase unauthorised items at the filling station.
It is further alleged that, the suspects would wait for motorists who would pay cash and swipe the fleet card in return for money and share it amongst themselves.
Five (5) of the six (6) Groblersdal police officials who are allegedly involved in these illegal activities have since been arrested during the initial takedown operation on Monday, 08 February 2021 in the area.
All the arrested suspects including the five (5) police officials will appear in the Groblersdal Magistrates court on Wednesday, 10 February 2021 on charges of fraud and theft.
Meanwhile, the operation to search for other outstanding suspects continues.
