MPUMALANGA – Micheal van der Linde (22) was arrested by the Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation team based in Secunda together with Ermelo Local Criminal Record Centre, Crime Information Gathering and local police on Thursday, 07 April 2022 for contravention of the medicines and related substances Act.
Information was received and followed about a person who was selling steroids at Muscle Mecca in Ermelo. During Investigation it was established that the suspect does not have valid document to possess the said medicine. The court was consulted and warrant of search was authorised and executed at the said address. Upon the search numerous steroids to the value of R200 000.00, and electronic equipment were seized for further investigation.
During his court appearance, he was released on R5000.00 bail. The case was postponed to 27 June 2022 for further investigation.
The Provincial Head of the Hawks in Mpumalanga Major General Zodwa Mokoena appreciated the multidisciplinary police action by different units within the South African Police Service. She further expressed gratitude to the members of the community for the information provided. Investigation continues.
