Pretoria: 16 November 2016 – The Management of the South African Police Service, would like to send the messages of condolences to the family, friends and relatives of the late former Deputy National Commissioner, General Morgan Chetty.
He retired after 40 years in the service after he received the highest award, the National Silver Star, from the President of the Republic of South Africa, His Excellency President J G Zuma.
The late General Chetty, served the organisation with loyalty and dedication and passed away on 14 November 2016. He was laid to rest today (16 November 2016) at Rebecca Street Crematorium in Pretoria West.
We want to express our sympathy and would like to let the Chetty family know that our hearts go out to you in your time of sorrow.
The family spokesperson, former Brigadier Reggie Mariemuthu, said the late General was praised at his funeral by the former National Commissioner of Police, General George Fivaz, who said that the late General “served South Africa with distinction and that he will be sadly missed not only by members of the South African Police Service, but by the community as well”.
Mariemuthu said the mourners were also addressed by the Minister of Finance, Mr Pravin Gordhan, who also echoed the sentiments of General Fivaz that “the late General Chetty served South Africa with distinction and that he will also be remembered by everyone in our beautiful country”.
