Stellenbosch, South Africa –  Chanel Simmonds and Lloyd Harris will once again play in the final, but will come up against different opponents in the second of the three Digicall Futures tennis tournaments.

Simmonds and Harris won the Digicall Futures 1 tournament last week. Tomorrow Simmonds, the top seeded woman, will come up against Russia’s Margarita Lazareva who beat German Julyette Maria Josephine to advance. This is after Simmonds demolished the fourth seed Lauren Embree from America 6-0, 6-3 in 1 hour and 19 minutes.  The third seed Lazareva needed just less than three hours to win the match against the eight seed 6-1, 5-7 and 6-3.

In the men’s final Harris will play against top seed Jordi Samper-Montana from Spain. In a repeat from last week’s final Harris beat Alessandro Bega from Italy 6-2, 7-6 in 1 hour 43 minutes. “It was gusty out there on court. Very similar to the rest of the week, but once again I was serving good despite the wind and that gave me the edge. I did get a bit frustrated in the second set, but fought back well after losing my serve,” said Harris.

After only three games Harris got treatment, but the 19-year-old gave assurance that it was not too serious. “My shoulder was extremely tight and that cause a big headache, but the treatment help a lot.”

He added: “I am happy with my overall performance today. I played well especially on the important points. Tomorrow I will keep on doing what I have been doing…playing aggressive, but solid tennis.”

Semper-Montana battled the junior Jay Clarke from Britain for almost three hours before he won the match 6-3, 5-7 and 6-4.

The women’s final is first up tomorrow and the action starts at 10:00.
