MPUMALANGA – The Carolina Magistrate Court has on Monday 30th January 2017 denied Lindi Nhlanhla Ntuli (28) bail when he appeared for fraud and absconding bail. Nhlanhla was out on bail for his fraud case when he failed to honour his subsequent court appearance.
On 27 November 2014 Nhlanhla was found to be disturbing clients at a Standard Bank ATM in Carolina, Mpumalanga. He allegedly told people who were queuing to withdraw money that the ATM was not working but he could assist them get their cash. The matter was reported to the local police who responded swiftly.
Nhlanhla was found busy with his shenanigans and upon searching him, police found 17 different bank cards. He was arrested and released on bail, and that was the last time the police saw of him.
A warrant of arrest was duly issued against him and a manhunt ensued. For over two years Nhlanhla managed to evade arrest but his luck ran out when the Hawks arrested him for Robbery, theft and Contravention of the Domestic Violence Act at Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal.
Initial investigations revealed that he was wanted in Carolina, Mpumalanga. The Hawks in Mpumalanga were alerted of the arrest by their KZN counterparts and a warrant of arrest was executed when Nhlanhla was on his way to Ngwelezane Magistrate’s Court.
Nhlanhla will appear again at the Carolina Magistrate’s Court on 3 February 2017 when he will be making another bid for bail.
